Installation Instructions

CloudShark can be installed on a compatible Linux system by running a few commands from a terminal. These commands will configure a CloudShark software repository, install several OS packages, and then install CloudShark on the system.

These instructions require a valid CloudShark Lounge account and internet access. If you do not have internet access, please refer to our offline installation page.

If you are you behind an HTTP proxy please see our page on configuring a proxy before continuing.

If you have a RHEL system that does not have a subscription, your system may provide out of date SSL packages that fail to meet CloudShark’s requirements.

Please follow these steps to install CloudShark:

  1. Install a CentOS or RHEL 7 system. You can download a CentOS 7 minimal ISO from us, or you can use your own.

  2. Upgrade the operating system. In a terminal, become the root user and upgrade the system by running the following commands. If you’re running RHEL, first you need to activate the optional software channel.

    su
    yum upgrade

  3. Install CloudShark’s dependencies. In a terminal run the following command. Be sure to include the space after the word ‘bash’:

    bash <(curl -s get.cloudshark.org)

Enter your CloudShark Lounge username and password. The script will install several components and then indicate when it has completed.

  4. Install CloudShark and your license. To complete installation you must install CloudShark and your license file. For trial users, run this command:

    cloudshark-admin --start-trial

For non-trial users that have purchased a CloudShark Appliance, run this command to register your system, install your license file, and install the latest version of CloudShark:

    cloudshark-admin --register --install-latest

  5. Access the Web UI and Login Once CloudShark is installed and running, use the local IP address of the machine to connect. The default username is admin and the password is cloudshark. Change them once you have logged in.
